Hyperpigmentation Market - Trends

  • Increasing geriatric population worldwide is driving growth of the hyperpigmentation treatment devices market.

  • The older population severely face skin related problems, such as post menopause pigmentation, which leads to higher demand for minimally invasive aesthetic procedures.

Skin Pigmentations – Common Procedures

  • Laser therapy

  • Intense pulsed light

  • Chemical peels

  • Microdermabrasion

Major Drawbacks

  • Long recovery times

  • All procedures are invasive and remove layers of the skin, leaving it sensitive and vulnerable

  • Some treatments cannot help serious skin conditions such as deep acne, active rosacea, eczema or dermatitis

  • Requires multiple sessions and maintenance treatments for maximum effectiveness

  • Some treatments are not suitable for dark complexion

  • Most treatments can exacerbate skin disorders, including allergic reactions or cold sores.

SKIN TAGS

  • Skin tags are benign, noncancerous, tumors of the skin. They consist of a core of fibers and ducts, nerve cells, fat cells, and a covering or epidermis.

RISK FACTORS

Skin tags appear to be more common in:

  • people who are overweight and obese

  • those with diabetes

  • women during pregnancy, possibly due to hormonal changes and high levels of growth factors

  • those with some types of human papillomavirus (HPV)

  • those whose close family members also have skin tags

COMMON PROCEDURES

  • Cauterization: The skin tag is burned off using electrolysis

  • Cryosurgery: The skin tag is frozen off using a probe containing liquid nitrogen

  • Ligation: The blood supply to the skin tag is interrupted

  • Excision: The tag is cut out with a scalpel
